The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Corporate Senior Executive Management Office (CSEMO) sought support in developing and implementing effective Senior Executive Service (SES) and Senior Level/Scientific Type (SL/ST) performance plans, and ensuring that its performance management system as a whole would successfully meet OPM and OMB certification requirements.

The work involved assessing current understanding and perceptions of the system and using that data to help shape integrated communications and learning programs centered on focusing executive performance on results, and providing solutions that both streamline performance management processes and improve perceptions of the program across VA. 

DAI provided communications, human capital and performance management consulting and training assistance in support of this engagement, including:

  • Conducting surveys and focus groups to measure audience perceptions and understanding of the performance management system
  • Developing strategies that directly addressed the most pertinent issues
  • Arming executives with the skills and tools to write effective performance plans, assessments and evaluations
  • Conducting a series of workshops providing in-depth overviews of the process
  • Providing subject matter expertise and consultative support
  • Conducting pre- and post-evaluation of interventions
  • Creating a comprehensive communications strategy and corresponding marketing materials
  • Producing training curricula incorporating a variety of learning strategies
  • Delivering workshops and training activities throughout the United States
  • Providing one-on-one consulting support to key leaders and executives
