Department of Veterans Affairs (VA)
Human Resources (HR) Academy

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) launched an effort to improve the quality and consistency of its HR services, including the recruitment, retention and support of the entire VA workforce. It was determined that VA HR professionals—a group that numbers over 3000 members—should have access to new training programs built on a foundation of best practices and consistent messaging.

DAI played a key role in establishing the innovative “HR Academy" in response to this assessment. The Academy provides online and classroom learning and professional development opportunities to all VA HR administrators. DAI helped to develop the program’s mission and define its goals, establishing its brand and engaging the support of key stakeholders through strategic communications. DAI was also instrumental in developing the program's website, working with specialists to develop the architecture and interface design, managing the graphic design process and writing site content.

DAI also:

  • Provided subject matter expertise and consultative support
  • Provided integrated strategic communications
  • Informed and educated HR professionals about opportunities available to them
  • Created a comprehensive communications strategy and corresponding marketing materials
  • Provided one-on-one management consulting with key leaders and executives
  • Designed and developed a variety of marketing products, including email communications, evaluation surveys, fact sheets, newsletters, feature articles, promotional items, talking points, briefings and videos for Web broadcast (VODcasts)
