VA for Vets
VA for Vets is the Department of Veterans Affairs’ (DVA’s) response to President Obama’s Veterans Employment Initiative. Veterans face two barriers to finding careers in the federal government: first, translating and marketing their skills and experience gained during military service into language that civilian employers can understand and second, navigating the federal hiring process. From military skills translation and professional development to career counseling and dynamic job searches, VA for Vets offers an integrated high tech/high touch solution tailored to the specific career needs of each Veteran.
Through VA for Vets, Veterans can:
- Take online assessments to identify interests, aptitude and best fit careers
- Translate military skills and experience and be matched to open VA jobs
- Build a federal civilian resume using plain English
- Search for available positions within VA
- Access comprehensive career discovery tools and support
- Speak to a career coach to help with resume building and job searches
- Connect with VA employees to learn about their perspectives on serving at VA
In support of this contract, DAI:
- Conducted research through focus groups to identify Veterans needs
- Provided strategic counseling to guide program development, launch and sustainment
- Wrote, delivered and implemented a detailed strategic marketing communications plan
- Created and launched the program brand and communications campaign including, key messaging, leadership presentations/briefings, event planning and implementation, media relations, outreach, stakeholder engagement
- Wrote full suite of promotional materials including fact sheets, brochures and videos
- Created content for a Web portal and conducted ongoing content optimization
- Oversaw use of social media tools to promote, educate, open dialogue, create communities and encourage valuable feedback from target audiences and end users
- Increased awareness of the program and its resources, while ensuring ongoing relationship-building with veterans
- Developed, monitored and reported on communications metrics
