Dr. Sherilyne E. Dougherty, President & CEO
Dr. Dougherty founded DAI in 1995, and oversees all aspects of the business with a strong focus on strategic planning and business development. Under her leadership, DAI has trained tens of thousands of government workers, developed and implemented learning systems that have transformed federal agencies’ training methods and supported successful human capital and change management operations through targeted communications campaigns.
Dr. Dougherty is an active contributor and leader in public forums, as well as professional and charitable organizations. Her expertise in the areas of leadership, human capital strategy and organizational transformation is sought after; she frequently speaks on these topics at a variety of national and local engagements and has published numerous related papers and articles.
A focused and passionate business leader, Dr. Dougherty is enthusiastic about sharing best practices, collaborating with other local leaders and helping other businesses succeed. She is a graduate of the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Alexandria, an executive program designed to connect local business leaders. She also played a key role in the development of the Industry Advisory Council, Human Capital Special Interest Group, and is an active member of the Training Officers Consortium.
Prior to DAI, Dr. Dougherty served as Vice President of Marketing at Hadron, Inc., a leading Washington, D.C.-based information, management and technical services company; Division Director at Biospherics, Inc., a large healthcare telecommunications firm; Director of Training and Multimedia at ARS, Ltd.; and Assistant Professor at the University of Maryland School of Nursing.
Dr. Dougherty holds a Doctorate in Human Resource Development and a Master of Science in Health Services Administration from The George Washington University, a Master of Science in Nursing Education and Research from the University of Maryland and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Florida State University.
