• Strive DC
    Strive DC’s goal is to empower individuals who have become disconnected from the workforce to make the changes required to find jobs, develop the skills and tools to avail themselves of economic opportunities and to achieve careers rooted in sustainable employment. In support of Strive DC, DAI refreshed the organization logo, provided headshots for senior staff and produced a marketing video. The video helps tell Strive DC’s story in a visually compelling way and is used on the organization’s website and in discussions with potential partners and sponsors.  


  • New Beginnings Life Preparatory Academy
    The New Beginnings Life Preparatory Academy offers powerful and effective solutions to the educational and developmental challenges of students with special needs and learning disabilities in Washington, D.C. DAI delivered an integrated suite of campaign materials—including a new logo and visual identity, social marketing materials, collateral and a responsive website design—to educate audiences and continue raising awareness of the important work being done at the school. The website received a Platinum AVA Digital award in the pro bono category.  


  • Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve – DOD
    DAI provides ongoing marketing outreach and event support for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), a Department of Defense office. We planned, executed and managed the 18th annual Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award ceremony. The Freedom Award is DoD's highest honor for employers who have provided exceptional support of their Guard and Reserve employees. DAI coordinated with employer and service member guests for all travel and ceremony logistics, including special events like a Pentagon tour, DoD leadership meeting, and White House visit. We developed and produced branded event materials, invitations, programs, web content, advertising and awards, and provided press support. DAI is currently planning the 2014 Freedom Award ceremony and related marketing with ESGR.  


  • Yellow Ribbon Reintegration Program – DOD
    DAI supports the Department of Defense's Yellow Ribbon Reintegration Program, providing strategic communications planning and outreach to National Guard and Reserve members and their families. We develop and execute messaging and strategies for multiple media channels to direct Service members and families to Yellow Ribbon events and resources throughout and beyond the deployment cycle.  


  • Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System – DOD

    DAI provided the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS) Program Executive Office (PEO) with strategic communications outreach to inform and train stakeholders on a new, integrated pay-for-performance personnel system. In support of DCIPS implementation, we built instructor-led and Web-based training courses and performance support tools ensuring a successful roll out of the comprehensive performance system.

  • Corporate Senior Executive Management Office – VA
    DAI partnered with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Corporate Senior Executive Management Office (CSEMO) to develop and deploy a performance management system that would position its senior executives for long-term success and career satisfaction while conforming to new government requirements. We used our expertise in change management to create performance management tools, learning and communications materials that successfully informed VA’s senior leadership of the transition to the enhanced performance management system.  


  • Defense Employee and Labor Relations Symposium – DOD

    For four consecutive years, DAI supported the Defense Employee and Labor Relations Symposium (DELRS). DELRS, organized by the Civilian Personnel Management Service (CPMS)—now Defense Civilian Personnel Advisory Service (DCPAS)—provides a dynamic learning environment for federal labor and employee relations managers and practitioners. DAI provided strategic planning, implementation and communications support for the DELRS events. Our event team planned the entire experience, by developing seminar focus areas and event branding materials as well as planning, coordinating and executing symposium logistics. DAI’s support helped CPMS execute instructive, relevant and well-organized events that achieved agency objectives.  

  • Defense Contract Management Agency – DOD

    DAI assisted the Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA) in transitioning 1,500 employees to the National Security Personnel System (NSPS). We provided performance management subject expertise and on-site support to ensure DCMA NSPS employees and HR practitioners had the tools and guidance necessary to successfully transition to the new system. DAI also provided workforce planning support to DCMA senior leaders, helping to develop new strategies needed for the Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) that required DCMA headquarters to move its location.  


  • National Security Personnel System – DOD

    DAI supported a large change management program with the establishment of the Department of Defense (DOD) Program Executive Office (PEO), National Security Personnel System (NSPS). NSPS called for a new civilian employee performance management system that changed the way DOD recruits, hires, retains and rewards its employees. We developed communications and learning products—covering position classification, staffing, performance management and workforce planning—and conducted an organizational readiness assessment. The latter resulted in an integrated, comprehensive strategic communications plan including key messages, target audiences and the appropriate communications necessary to implement a program that impacted the entire DOD civilian workforce.

  • MyCareer@VA

    DAI has provided strategic communications planning and outreach strategies for MyCareer@VA, a Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) program that is a critical element in VA’s ambitious plan to improve the career and professional development services it provides to its employees. We developed communications strategies, implementation plans and supporting products to generate interest, educate users on program functionality and encourage them to become ambassadors of the program. After auditing the communications channels available enterprise-wide, we achieved over one million impressions in the first four months of our outreach campaign.  


  • Career and Employee Development – VA

    The Plain Writing Act of 2010 requires all federal agencies to write public-facing documents in a “clear, concise, well-organized” manner. In response to this, the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) added a Formal Writing Using Plain Language (FWUPL) course to its Career and Employee Development (CED), formerly Career and Technical Training (CTT), curriculum. In collaboration with VA subject matter experts, DAI designed and developed this blended, advanced-level writing course aligning the content to career competencies and incorporating VA-specific scenarios and hands-on writing exercises that accurately reflected VA employees’ typical writing requirements.

  • National Archives and Records Administration

    DAI supported the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) by performing a thorough communications audit geared toward providing strategic direction for internal and external communications programs during a critical time of transformation. We helped NARA analyze overall communications tactics, structure and processes to establish a strategic direction for future investments and decisions that will help to achieve meaningful change within the organization.

  • Holiday Website Design – DAI
    DAI’s creative display of holiday spirit and corporate responsibility garnered an award in the 2012 Internet Advertising Competition. The holiday website featured a video of DAI employees, a special message from our CEO, recipes for tasty treats and highlighted our accomplishments in giving back to the community.

  • HR Academy – VA
    The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) HR Academy cultivates a community of high-performing HR professionals who enable VA's workforce to serve veterans with excellence. DAI provides strategic communications support to promote the academy’s programs, build participation and awareness of academy courses and resources and communicate news and information to VA’s more than 300,000 employees. In 2012, our interactive flyer promoting HR Academy’s Boot Camp received an Honorable Mention from the Hermes Creative Awards.  


  • Federal ID Management – VA

    When a Homeland Security Presidential Directive mandated new standards for secure and reliable personal identification for all federal employees and contractors, the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) turned to DAI to develop products to effectively communicate the requirement. We developed several high-quality communications products, including an engaging promotional video that captured widespread attention, enhanced the credibility of the program and raised awareness of the security requirement and credential issuance process. The video won multiple awards in 2012 and 2013, including Internet Advertising Competition, Communicator and Peer awards.

  • VA Learning University – VA
    DAI provided communications learning solutions support to the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) as it launched a corporate university—VA Learning University (VALU)—dedicated to achieving the agency’s mission and business objectives through high-quality, cost-effective continuous learning and development opportunities. We developed curriculum models, provided training event coordination and executed promotional communications in support of VALU’s launch. We developed integrated communications that engaged employees VA-wide and built enthusiasm and participation in VALU initiatives.  


  • Office of Resolution Management – VA
    DAI designed a comprehensive hybrid conference curriculum for the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Office of Resolution Management (ORM), integrating technology with outcomes-based learning. The resulting conference capability empowered ORM to build a virtual community of practice accessible by event participants. Our learning solutions experts identified the need for and designed “on-demand” performance support tools including job aids, reference guides, procedural charts and checklists, and outcomes-based video scenarios.  


  • Veterans Health Administration – VA
    The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Veterans Health Administration (VHA) leveraged DAI communications practice expertise to launch a one-year pilot program offering separating or recently separated medics, medical technicians and corpsmen the opportunity to begin VA careers as Intermediate Care Technicians. The 15 VHA locations around the country relied heavily on DAI’s electronic and traditional outreach to connect with qualified veterans and make them aware of the opportunities and educational benefits available to medical personnel. We achieved this through targeted stakeholder outreach leveraging online and social media channels as well as creative print products.  


  • Financial Management Training – VA

    As part of its Career and Employee Development (CED), formerly Career and Technical Training (CTT), program, the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) turned to DAI to help with the planning and execution of three training conferences for finance and accounting professionals. We provided pre-event planning, online and print communications campaigns to attract and register employees, onsite support, and post-conference reporting. Successful events were held in San Francisco, Dallas and Nashville over a five-month period.


  • VA for Vets
    DAI provided strategic communications planning and execution to VA for Vets, the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Veteran Employment and Services Office (VESO) flagship program. VA for Vets helps veterans and transitioning military service members find VA careers, supporting them with tools to translate military skills, build federal resumes and search and apply for open positions. We used an integrated approach to branding, internal communications and external recruitment marketing that supported measurable improvements in veteran career readiness and hiring within the VA. We also supported VESO in acquiring excellence awards for leadership and innovation.
